Specificity and historical notes

The first historical information on wine production in the Scansano area dates back to the beginning of the 1800s. In reality, however, the cultivation of the vine in this area is much earlier. Traces of it can be found already in pre-Roman times, thanks to the presence of the Etruscans. Moreover, in the Middle Ages, many official documents refer to the excellent geological and climatic characteristics of the area, from an oenological point of view.
