Bagnoli di Sopra o Bagnoli

The following wines belong to the "Bagnoli di Sopra" or "Bagnoli" Protected Designation of Origin: white, rosé, Turchetta, Marzemina bianca, Corbina, Cavrara (basic and classic), red, Merlot, Cabernet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet franc, Carmenère, Refosco, Vin da Viajo liquoroso (basic, classic and reserve), and Spumante (white, rosato and rosé, in the version "storico").


Grapes

At least 85% of the wines with an indication of the vine variety are composed of corresponding grapes. The red, on the other hand, is composed of between 15% and 60% of Merlot, 25% of Cabernet Franc, Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon (absolute or combined) and a maximum of 15% of Raboso Piave or Raboso Veronese (absolute or combined). The rosata version has at least 50% Raboso Piave and/or Veronese and a maximum of 40% Merlot. The white wine is composed of at least 30% Chardonay, at least 20% Tocai friulano and/or Sauvignon and at least 10% Raboso Piave and/or Raboso veronese. The Spumante version must have at least 90% Raboso Piave, as must the Vin da viajo. All may contain grapes of similarly colored berry varieties, suitable for cultivation in the province of Padova, in percentages ranging from 10% to 15%.


Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

The "Bagnoli di Sopra" wines have an alcohol content ranging from 10.5% vol. to 12% vol. , with the exception of the Vin da viajo (15. 5% vol.); the reds have a characteristic ruby red colour, more or less intense, which tends towards garnet as they age; the aroma is vinous, pleasant and sometimes fruity; the flavour is dry, velvety and fine. The whites, on the other hand, have the characteristic straw yellow colour from more to less intense, with possible golden reflections, the aroma is vinous, pleasant and sometimes fruity, the flavour is dry, sweet, sometimes savoury and fruity. The rosato have a pinkish colour, tending to ruby, the aroma is slightly vinous, pleasant and fruity, the taste is dry, fresh and slightly sweet. Finally, the sparkling versions have a fine and persistent froth.


Grape production area

The production area of "Bagnoli", in the province of Padova, is mostly flat and is characterized by the proximity of the Euganean Hills and the sea, which helps to create a microclimate conducive to the production of quality wines.


Specificity and historical notes

The link with the territory dates back to the Roman age, the wine-growing tradition is therefore ancient and well rooted.
