Botticino

The "Botticino" Protected Designation of Origin includes two types of wine: basic red and Riserva.


Grapes

At least 30% of the base red wines and riserva are Barbera, at least 10% Schiava Gentile, at least 20% Marzemino and at least 10% Sangiovese. Grapes of similarly colored berry varieties, suitable for cultivation in the Lombardia region, may be used to produce these wines.


Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

The basic red (vol. 11.5%) has a ruby red color with garnet highlights, the aroma is vinous and intense, the flavor is dry, harmonious and rightly tannic. The Riserva (vol. 12.5%) has a ruby red color tending to garnet, the smell is intense, full and slightly ethereal, the flavor is full, velvety, with any perception of wood.


Grape production area

The production area of "Botticino" is produced in the Valverde production area, which has a varied pedology, with calcareous areas, a good quantity of potassium and carbon dioxide, all in a mild microclimate, without damaging environmental extremes.


Specificity and historical notes

The production "Botticino" is linked to an ancient tradition, which began with Cenomani, continued with the Romans and perfected by the Benedictines.
