Dolcetto d’Acqui

The Protected Designation of Origin "Dolcetto d'Acqui" presents the following varieties of wines: red wine and its superiore variant.


Grapes

The production of "Dolcetto d'Acqui" takes place using only grapes from vineyards consisting of 100% Dolcetto vine.


Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

The "Dolcetto d'Acqui" and its superiore variant have the same organoleptic characteristics, distinguishing only for the different minimum total alcoholic strength by volume, equal to 11. 5% vol. for the first and 12. 5% vol. for the second. The color is an intense ruby red, which with aging tends to turn to brick red. The smell it emanates is characteristic, vinous and attenuated. The palate is dry and soft, with a pleasantly almond or bitter taste.


Grape production area

The "Dolcetto d'Acqui" is born in the area of Alto Monferrato. The profile of the area is characterized by the presence of hills composed of a compact clay marl, sometimes sandy, ideal for the development of Dolcetto, which transfers some fundamental characteristics.


Specificity and historical notes

The long wine-growing tradition of the Dolcetto production area has made it possible to select, over time, the vine of the same name, as the one that best suits the morphological and climatic conditions of the area, giving a wine appreciated and loved.
