Parteolla
The Protected Geographical Indication "Parteolla" includes white wines (also sparkling), red wines (also sparkling and new) and rosé wines (also sparkling).
Grapes
The "Parteolla" PGI wines must be obtained from vines suitable for cultivation in Sardegna. The specification of the vine (with the exception of the varieties Cannonau, Carignano, Girò, Malvasia, Monica, Moscato, Nasco, Nuragus, Semidano, Vermentino and Vernaccia) provides for a minimum percentage of 85% of the corresponding blend, while the remaining 15% can be obtained from any other vine, as long as it is suitable for cultivation in Sardegna.
Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties
The white wines, even the sparkling ones, are characterized by a colour from paper-white to amber yellow, combined with a characteristic smell and taste from dry to sweet. The red wines, including sparkling wines, are pale ruby red to garnet red in colour, with a characteristic aroma and a taste that ranges from dry to sweet. The Rosso novello version, on the other hand, is distinguished by its colour, which ranges from red with violet to ruby red shades, while the flavour ranges from dry to sweet. The Rosato, also sparkling, is characterized by its color from pale pink to deep, with a characteristic scent and flavor from dry to sweet. The minimum total alcoholic strength by volume is 10% vol. for white wine, 10.50% vol. for all sparkling wines and for Rosato, 11% vol. for Rosso and Rosso novello.
Grape production area
The production area is located in the south-east of Sardegna and consists of low hills open to the west, towards the plain of Campidano.
Specificity and historical notes
In the nuragic village of Monte Zara, in Monastir, a stone press was found, supposedly used for pressing the grapes. The finding shows the presence, in the area, of agricultural activity linked to the vine already in the Nuragic age, as well as in the rest of Sardegna.
