In the second case, the vines in question must constitute 100% of the grapes and each must be present for a minimum quota of 15%.

Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

The white (minimum total alcoholic strength by volume of 9% vol.) has an appearance ranging from straw yellow to golden, sometimes with greenish or copper reflections; to the mouth is pleasant, sometimes aromatic and the taste harmonious, from dry to sweet. The red (9% vol. for the base, 11% vol. for the Novello) have a more or less intense ruby colour, sometimes with orange reflections; the aroma is vinous, sometimes ethereal or fruity; the taste is harmonious, from dry to sweet. Finally, the Rosato (9% vol.) has a more or less intense pink colour, with a vinous, pleasant aroma and a fresh, harmonious, dry to sweet flavour. All the sparkling versions have a lively and evanescent foam. If vinified or aged in wood, the PGI "Vallagarina" may have the characteristic smell of wood.

Grape production area

The production area includes the course of the Adige river, between the provinces of Trento and Verona, geographically and historically known as "Vallagarina".

Specificity and historical notes

Viticulture and wine production, as evidenced by numerous archaeological finds and historical documents, have been present in the area since the Bronze Age. Still today, wine production is an important sector of the local economy.
