Valli Ossolane

The "Valli Ossolane" Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) includes four types of wine: red, Nebbiolo, Nebbiolo Superiore and white.


Grapes

The white is composed of at least 60% Chardonnay, while the red is made with at least 60% Nebbiolo, Croatina and Merlot, absolute or combined. The composition of these wines may also include grapes from berry varieties of similar color, up to a maximum of 40%, suitable for cultivation in the Piemonte Region. Nebbiolo and Nebbiolo Superiore contain at least 85% of the analogous vine, flanked by grapes of analogous berry varieties up to a maximum of 15%, suitable for cultivation in the Piemonte Region.


Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

"Valli Ossolane" wines have a minimum total alcoholic strength by volume between 11% vol. and 11.5% vol. The red has a characteristic intense ruby colour, tending towards garnet; the aroma is vinous and intense; the flavour is dry and harmonious. The Nebbiolo, basic and superiore, have a more or less intense red colour; the aroma is fruity, fragrant and delicate; the flavour is dry and harmonious. The white, on the other hand, has a more or less intense straw colour, with a fruity, fragrant and delicate aroma and a dry and harmonious flavour.


Grape production area

The production area of "Valli Ossolane" is located on terraced river deposits, in some cases on slopes. The soils vary according to the location and morphology of the territory itself, giving the viticulture a significant variability.


Specificity and historical notes

The wine tradition in the area of the "Valli Ossolane" dates back to the third century AD, the link with the territory, evolved over time, is therefore deep and rooted. Together with the variability of the soil, contributes to making the "Valli Ossolane" a highly prized product.
