Vignanello

The following types of wines belong to the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) "Vignanello": white basic, "superiore" and "vendemmia tardiva"; Greek base, sparkling wine and vendemmia tardiva; base red, new and "riserva".


Grapes

The white and white grapes harvested late present a minimum of 70% of Trebbiano toscano and Trebbiano giallo, absolute or combined, and a maximum of 30% of Malvasia bianca di Candia and Malvasia del Chianti, absolute or combined. The red wine is composed of at least 50% Sangiovese and a maximum of 40% Ciliegiolo. Everyone can present between 15% and 20% of similarly colored berry grapes, suitable for cultivation in the Lazio region.


Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

White wines have a minimum total alcoholic strength by volume that varies from 10.5% vol. to 11.5% vol., and reaches 15% vol. with the late harvest version. The color is straw yellow with greenish reflections, sometimes tending to golden. They have a characteristic delicate, fruity, pleasant and sometimes vinous aroma. The taste, on the other hand, ranges from dry to sweet, harmonious and sweet. The sparkling versions also have a fine and persistent froth. Finally, the reds have an alcohol content between 11% vol. and 12% vol.; the color is ruby red tending to garnet, the smell is fragrant, characteristic and intense; the flavor is dry, lively, warm and harmonious.


Grape production area

The production area of "Vignanello" is located between the east side of the Cimini mountains and the Tevere river, at an altitude between 140 and 445 m a.s.l. and on soils of various sedimentary nature, from volcanic to continental origins.


Specificity and historical notes

The winemaking tradition in the production area of "Vignanello" dates back to Etruscan times. This, combined with the combination of the nature of the land and climatic factors, make the territory highly suited to the production of fine wines.
