Alezio

The Protected Designation of Origin "Alezio", has the following types of wines: red (also riserva) and rosé.

Grapes

Alezio wines are obtained from vineyards belonging to the Negro Amaro variety; however, grapes from the Malvasia Nera di Lecce, Sangiovese and Montepulciano varieties, present alone or in combination up to a maximum of 20%, can contribute to the production.

Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

The red version (minimum total alcoholic strength by volume 12% vol) has a ruby red colour, with slight orange reflections when aged, the aroma is vinous when young, and ethereal and rich in bouquet when aged; the flavour is dry, warm, with a slightly bitter aftertaste and tannic; the rosé (12% vol) on the other hand has an intense coral pink colour; the aroma is vinous and persistent; the flavour is dry, velvety with a slightly bitterish aftertaste. Grape production area

The production area of "Alezio" wines is located in the province of Lecce, in particular in the municipalities of: Alezio and Sannicola and partly that of the municipalities of Gallipoli and Tuglie.
