Breganze

The following wines belong to the "Breganze" Protected Designation of Origin: white, Tai, Pinot bianco e grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon (in the basic and Superiore versions), red, Pinot Nero, Marzemino, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet (in the basic, Superiore and Riserva versions), Vespaiolo (both basic, Superiore and Spumante) and Torcolato (both basic and Riserva versions).


Grapes

At least 85% of the wines with an indication of the vine variety are composed of the relative grapes, with which grapes of similar colour suitable for cultivation in the province of Vicenza may be added. The white and red, on the other hand, are made up of at least 50% Tocai friulano (white) and at least 50% Merlot (red); in addition, the production of these wines may include grapes from similarly colored berry varieties, suitable for cultivation in the province of Vicenza, up to a maximum of 50%.


Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

"Breganze" wines have a minimum total alcoholic strength by volume ranging from 11% to 12% vol., with the exception of Torcolato (14% vol.). The whites have a straw yellow colour, sometimes white or golden, with possible copper reflections, the aroma is vinous, intense, delicate and typical, the taste goes from round to fresh and velvety. The red wines, on the other hand, have a bright ruby red colour, sometimes dark, which tends towards garnet as they age and sometimes presents brick nuances, the aroma is vinous, herbaceous and the taste is harmonious, full-bodied, dry and sometimes rightly tannic.


Grape production area

The production area of "Breganze" is located in an amphitheatre basin between the rivers Astico and Brenta, and is characterized by the presence of volcanic and alluvial rocks, which make the pedology varied.


Specificity and historical notes

The winemaking tradition dates back to 1200, the link with the territory is therefore deep and well rooted.
