Friuli Latisana

The "Friuli Latisana" is a The Protected Designation of Origin that identifies white, red, rosé and passiti wines, with possible spumante, superiore, riserva and spumante variants. There are also wines with the following grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Franconia, Refosco dal peduncolo rosso, Pinot nero, Pinot bianco, Pinot grigio, Friulano, Verduzzo friulano, Traminer aromatico, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Malvasia istriana and Riesling renano.


Grapes

The Wines with an indication of the vine variety must be produced with a minimum share of 85% of the corresponding grapes, together with those of other non-aromatic varieties, suitable for cultivation in the province of Udine. For the Cabernet type it is possible to use three types of grapes: Cabernet franc, Cabernet sauvignon and Carmenere. Whites, on the other hand, require a minimum of 60% Friulano and a maximum of 30% Chardonnay and/or Pinot Blanc. A similar rule applies to Rosso and Rosato, which require a minimum of 60% Merlot and a maximum of 30% Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and/or Carmenere. Even in the case of whites, reds and rosés, other varieties may contribute to the missing amount.


Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

The White (10.5% vol.) is straw-coloured, with different levels of intensity, and has a delicate and pleasant aroma and a harmonious and dry flavour. The Rosso (10.5% vol.) stands out for its ruby red colour, with a characteristic, vinous and harmonious aroma and a dry, soft, fine and slightly herbaceous flavour. The Rosato (10.5% vol.) is a slightly intense red, with a vinous aroma and a dry and harmonious flavour. These basic characteristics are followed by variations depending on the different processes, such as sparkling wine, sparkling wine and passito wine, or on the prevalence of particular grapes, as in wines with an indication of the grape variety. Peculiar organoleptic characteristics that the disciplinary defines with punctuality.


Grape production area

The production area is located within the provinces of Udine and Pordenone.

The "Friuli Latisana" wines are the result of a perfect balance between optimal geographical and climatic conditions and a long tradition and wine experimentation.
